I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973 and completed an internship and residency at UP’s large animal clinic at New Bolton Center. I am board-certified in Large Animal Internal Medicine. I spent 35 years in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where I saw referral equine patients, taught veterinary students and engaged in research. I retired in 2012. 

I was a member of the USEF Veterinary Selection Panel for three-day event horses in international competition for 22 years. I was the competition’s treating veterinarian at 1978 Eventing World Championships in Lexington Ky., the foreign veterinary delegate at the Asian Games in Thailand in 1998, the president of the Veterinary Commission at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and the president of the Veterinary Commission for three-day eventing at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, in Lexington, Ky. I was the veterinary delegate or assistant veterinary Ddelegate at the Kentucky Three-Day Event from its inception until 2015. I served as veterinary delegate/assistant veterinary delegate for multiple other three-day event competitions including The Radnor Hunt CCI2* and the Fair Hill International CCI3*. 

In retirement, I am enjoying riding my own horses, spending time with my Labrador, and keeping up with friends who are officiating at or competing in three-day events. I study alto and tenor recorders so I can play early music, I dance regularly, and I love to travel.
